MELBOURNE CUP

On the first Tuesday  in November, Australia stops everything to watch The Melbourne Cup, our most famous and celebrated horse race.
This year, students at PGIC were able to take part in the festivities - as we held a small party - complete with drinks, popcorn, chips and a betting sweep.

The eventual winner of the Melbourne Cup was Shocking - and it made some betting students (and teachers) very happy when they realised they'd won themselves a nice amount of cash...

See the photos below to relive the excitement!

Zombie walk

Finally the ZOMBIES came out from hiding.

There were thousands of people dressed up in some amazing costumes.

LOTS of red paint was used.

Look below to see some students with some Zombies.

Who is more scared?
Students or Zombies?

SOCCER TOURNAMENT

PGIC FOOTBALL CHALLENGE

The PGIC Soccer Tournament took place two Saturdays ago, and what a massive success it was.
Although PGIC were not the eventual winners on the day - the title going to the team from UQ, a great day of fun and fair play was had by all.

The tournament was made of 8 teams that were invited by PGIC.
Russo English, ACE College, Concordes, Qld University of Technology, University of Qld & Shafston College plus two teams fielded from PGIC.

All the colleges took part in the competition to reach ultimate football glory.  $1000 first place prize.  Special mention must go to PGIC Blue - who reached the semi-finals of the round-robin tournament, only to be knocked out by the team from Shafston College.

UQ were the champions on the day, defeating QUT in the final - and receiving the $1,000 prize.

It was great to see so many students - whether playing in the teams, officiating as linesmen, cheering from the sidelines or working on the BBQ to make the day truly special. Thank you to everybody who helped!

Another massive thank you to Renzo for putting the competition together - it was a huge responsibility to undertake, and he did it with great professionalism. Thanks must also go to Greg and Gareth for putting the teams together, coordinating training and making the day run as smoothly as possible - and Kaspar for his great photos that capture the fun of the day.
